to medicate or not

I am a 63 year old woman and have slightly elevated blood pressure for which I take a water pill every morning.
I had blood work done this Feburary and May, with results as follows:
Feb: LDL:4.54; HDL:1.91; TG: 1/06; CHOL/HDL: 3.6; CHOL:6.93
May:LDL:4.38; HDL:2.12: TG:1.18; CHOL.HDL: 3.3;  CHOL: 7.04

Both times my INST. HGB ALC  were 6.1 which I understand now makes my LDL unacceptable.

I am being recommended to take 10mg of Crestor/day and would much appreciate your opinion.

Thanks

I tried the diet, exercise and Omega 3 Fish oil alternative and finally gave in when my triglycerides hit 2100. The Tricor has corrected that problem.  So it's a matter of peference and what you are comfortable with.  Take care, Ally

The drug is actively promoted to physicians with a thorough and well thought-out marketing program. Most "modern" physicians are pill pushers.

This business of having an "unacceptable" LDL is a matter of controversey.

The thing to remember is that "mother nature never does nuthin' for nuthin' ", as a physician friend used to say. When you review the information in the PDR you find that the precise mechanism of action ofd these drugs is not clearly understood.

There are alternatives, lifestyle and dietary changes that will help, and you should seek a physician with a naturopathic oprientation for suggestions.
