hello, im 20 year old male, for the past six or seven weeks ive been suffering with an anxious feeling in my chest and literally hundreds of strong ectopic beats on a daily basis, which are impacting upon my life(anyone who experience these regularly will know what I'm talking about). My doctor says it is down to stress and anxiety. However, I feel the anxiety has only developed after the extra beats occured. I wore a heart monitor for 24 hours where these showed up which were deemed not be serious. Along with this monitor, ive had a couple of ECGs done and my docor is satisfied that my heart is fine. However I'm not too sure and decided to do my own research which I have been undertaking for the past number of weeks. I am exploring the possibility that the way Im feeling is down to a mitral valve proplase or a problem with the heart's electrical system both of which could be contibuting to this anxiety feeling which has definitely only come on since the ectopic beats occured. So i would like to ask the following questions.
1. Would i be right be right in saying that a prolapse of the mitral valve or any alteration to the heart's electrical system would not be detected by the methods used by my doctor?
2. Is it possible that an mvp or problems concerning the heart's electrical system can contribute to a physical anxious feeling in the chest, a feeling that many doctors may mistake for mental anxiety?
3. Would an echocardiagram be the best thing to get done to see if it is a mitral valve prolapse and would it be reccomended for me to see a cardio electrophysiologist concerning potential problems with the heart's electrical system?
4. Can years of stress lead to an mvp or heart electric problems, and if so, are these problems permanent and irreversible once they develop. I've read somewhere that atrial flutter can naturally disappear after a few months but I'm not too sure on this point. I am aware that these beats aren't life threatening but am genuinely scared of having them for the rest of my life, along with this nasty feeling in my chest.
Would greatly appreciate any opinions/answers/advice from anyone with any knowledge or experience in this field and, also, from anybody who/is an a similar position to myself.
Regards.
