14400 PAC/PVC's a day.

Hello All,

I am a 43 year old male and have been dealing with PAC's and PVC's for most of my life.  Its normal for me to get 10 or 15 a day and I became use to it and never paid much attention to it.  Well, back in Sept. I was having a little more stress than normal and out of the blue, started having thousands a day.  The Doctor put me on Zoloft, Xanax and Bystolic.  I was doing OK at first but when I went to 100MGs of Zoloft I started to have them every other beat for weeks.  2 weeks ago the Doctor reduced my meds to 25 mgs of Zoloft and 1/4 of the dose of Bystolic.  Within a few days, most of my PAC/PVCs have gone away.  Has anyone had this experience?  I'm still wondering which drug was doing it.

Thanks
Rich

Hi rmontgom21740, nice on the AIX!  We still have some 4.3 running in our environment...just upgraded some r40s to b80s.  Nobody wants to spend the $ to upgrade the apps because it's "supposed to go away" starting like 10 years ago...  yes, it's stressful :-)

I take 5 mg bystolic and at that dose it seems to decrease my PVCs and PACs pretty well.  I had an episode of SVT and they increased my dose to 10 mg, then down to 7.5.  Shortly thereafter I started having episodes of PVS every other beat or every 2 beats.  Went back down to 5 mg and it stopped.  Doctor says it was coincidental.  Also know that SSRIs can cause an increase in palps.  My sister had to quit zoloft because of it.

Thanks for the information and I agree with you.  I just want them to go away.  I see that you are an IT manager.  I am also in IT working as an AIX system Engineer.  My condition is probably caused by the stress of the job.  :-)   Anway, thanks for the information.

Probably both meds doing it.  I've heard anecdotally that bystolic will increase frequency of ectopic beats though reduce stroke volume (so they are a little less noticeable but a lot more frequent).  My own personal experience on a beta blocker matched this as-well.

Xanax lists "palpitations" as a measurable finding (side effect) in double blind studies.

Zoloft lists palpitations as a side effect as-well.

Good luck.
