Thank you so much for responding!!! First of all, I'm happy to read that all of you were feeling good so soon after surgery. Secondly, I'm really looking forward to our little getaway....it would seriously stink to turn down a trip to Monterey. I did check and they have wheelchairs just in case. My husband said it would be easier if I was in one because he could just push our whole family around while I held the kids LOL I'd rather see him chase them, so hopefully I'll be feeling peachy and won't need one.
I appreciate the prayers and support. I have the same feelings about this surgery as I did when I was getting ready to have my first child....a little nervous because I've never done anything like it, but mostly excited. I'm looking forward to playing basketball again, to wakeboarding/kneeboarding/wake surfing, to having another baby, to playing with my kids more, to hiking, etc. I feel like this has sidelined me from life. Gosh, I seriously can't wait!!!
And yes, I'll let you know how it went :)
Well I don't have much to add to what everyone has said. I was short of breath for maybe 2 days but in general felt pretty good. I was told not to run or do heavy lifting for 5 days. So I think you will be fine to take your trip. But I mostly wanted to post to wish you luck and much success with your ablation. Please do let us know how it went. Take care and I will send prayers your way next Tuesday.
Sooooooo how did it go? You doing ok?
Had mine done on a Thursday. I dined out on Saturday, went back to work 50 miles away on Tuesday, and drove 250 miles on Thursday to see our kids for Thanksgiving. On Friday, I did some light skating with my son at their local rink. IOW, I think you'll be fine. I was 59 at the time.
I have had two ablations and just sort of stayed on light duty for about a week or ten days. I recall them telling me not to lift anything over 10 lbs ( think it was 10) for a couple of weeks.. but I started walking 5-6 miles daily within 3-4 days... just use good judgment and dont do anything risky or push yourself for a few days... I will add that it takes a minimum of 3 months for your heart to totally heal and you may experience some svts during that time.. and your heart may not feel totally normal or comfortable during that time.. I personally am of the opinion that it takes about 6 months to detemine the complete outcome or results of the ablation..hope this helps..Claytex
Everything should be fine. You will probably feel a bit tired the first few days. You will have some bruising in the groin so I recommend wearing very loose, soft pants. Most people feel their heart flip flop now and then during the healing process which can take a few months. But overall, driving here and there shouldn't be a problem at all. They'll give you instructions when you leave the hospital.
Yes you should be fine. In fact, I was perfectly fine the next day and I am 32. They actually was going to let me go home that day, but I told them I was already there to stay the night. I felt fine the next day and continued as I always had physically with no problems.
