can you help me?

i am a 29 year old female who had an ablation surgery back in 2007 for a heartrate of 170 bpm that would not stop on its own, only after going to the er to get that intravenous medicine that stops and restarts your heart.i was very active at the time, running 5-10 miles per day and very fit. Now, i dont have the high heart rate that wont come down on its own so much but i have alot of pvcs. ever since my surgery i have been paranoid about my heart and so afraid im going to die, because alot of the time i dont feel well. my cardiologist says i am fine. i dont run anymore because i am afraid it will cause more problems like before, and i take celexa for anxiety which has made me gain about 65 lbs, so i feel totally miserable. it usually hits me during a bad cold or when its hot outside. i will get this wave of adrenaline that sweeps over me causing my heartrate to go up and start skipping all over. it usually goes away in about a half hour but i have to lay down and slow my breathing for it to stop. is there something wrong with me?

Thank you guys. I will definitely get a second opinion. I guess my issue is, is it heart related or stress related- better to be safe than sorry!!

There some information that varies on Celexa, but some information does say it can cause increase in your heart rate. I have not done much studying on Celexa though, so please take into consideration I am not a doctor. I know most antidepressants will effect your heart in one way or another, though not everyone will have an adverse reaction to it. For example Prozac caused first degree heart block with me. Effexor actually raised my blood pressure which was great for me, but then my cardiologist told me it was very bad for the heart (causing rythm issues ) and to get get off it asap, and when I did,  it caused other terrible effects I am still living with. Like Lisa said, we are all different and what works for one may not for another. My mission is to warn others about the side effects of antidepressants, but I am not a doctor.

Have you had another doctor look at your case or gotten a 2nd opinion? If you're near any of the large clinics like Cleveland Clinic, Mayo or Vanderbilt I would find their cardiac dept and make an appt with one of their doctors just to make sure what is going on.

If all of your cardiac tests were normal there has to be a reason for your hr increases like that, it could be related to your ANS or autonomic nervous system.  Pvc's are 95-99% benign, but there are so many variables even doctors don't have all the answers but tend to lump all patients into that "benign" status.

If you can, try to control your anxiety & stress more  I know it's easier said than done, but another SSRI or anti anxiety med may be the answer; so make sure you talk to your doctor or get another opinion and keep trying until you find what works for you.
