Anyone get eptopic beats

I have had strange palputations going on for years i am 28 now and they have got worse, i have been under cardiologist and had lots of blood tests, 1 week of ecg's, and been on a monitor during hospital admission.
I have been told my heart is healthy and that i get eptopic beats which causes my heart to feel like it skips, stops, restarts, its the only way i can explain it but it comes from no where, i could be sat down or standing and all of a sudden i get a strange feeling in my chest like my heart has missed a beat or stopped for a few secs then i get a larger thud, go sweaty and very dizzy sometimes they are so quick and light i hardly notice but others can be awful and i feel i am going to just drop dead or my hearts going to stop if they last longer, times when i get a few in a row it awful, is this really just common eptopic beats and why have i almost passed oout with it many times and also my resting rate is often around 120-140 beats per minute and races when standing  with a pressure feeling in my chest, neck and head, i do suffer with anxiety and docs put it down to that, i have had many checks but nothing serious i'm told but why do it feel like so much more, is this normal at 28? i am sooo afraid please help me

Something else you might want to try is checking your blood pressure and heart rate sitting and standing.  If heart rate increases by 30 beats per minute or more from your reading when sitting to the reading when standing it could be indicative of POTS.  Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome causes symptoms such as heart palpitations, dizziness, blackouts, hot flashes, headaches, anxiety, nausea, etc., etc.  Symptoms are also worse when menstruating.  Typically high sodium diet and lots of fluids are helpful (depending on which type of POTS you might have).  There are also a variety of medications that can be prescribed if this is what you are found to have.

In order to diagnose this you need to see an electrophysiologist cardiologist who will perform a tilt table test.
Good luck and keep us posted!
Lynn:)

HI,
Are you sure these are "skipped beats"? It definitely sounds like PVCs (premature ventricular contractions". The way you described what happens, is just like I had/have.

Hello...

I'm sorry that you are being plagued by these unsettling ectopics:( The good news is that all your tests have indicated a perfectly healthy heart other than these.

From what you are describing, it sounds very likely that they are PVC's (prematue ventricular contractions) They are are common, and ocurring in a structuarlly sound heart they aren't putting you in any danger.

Please try not to worry about these. Anxiety can only make you more prone to having these unpleasant beats occur more frequently. You mention that your resting pulse is often around 120-140? Is this all the time or more so after you panic from these beat?

Did your Dr prescribe any type of medication?

Did your heart get worse after you had your son...it got a lot worse for me...especially 2 wks before menstration...it's non-stop eptopic beats...
if you're resting heart rate is 120...you might want to look up IST...on the internet...it will explain it better...but it's not life-theartening at all...i just turned 30 and my heart is so wacky it's not even funny...it truly *****...but i'm doing yoga and it seems to be helping a lot...especially with my anxiety... :)
