Serious or not so serious?

My daughter is 13 years old.  Her heart rate when lying in bed before she sits up is 50.  When she sits or stands up it jumps up to 130.  Is that normal?  Her bp is 120/87.  Her rate is sometimes 50, sometimes 80 and sometimes goes up to 130.  This is all just sitting or walking around her room. She also gets very shaky.  You can see her hand really trembling.  Sometimes upon standing she will be to weak to walk and will have to hold on to the wall for a few moments.  She also gets nauseous a lot. She had Costochondritis  she was seven.  She was given Tylenol for pain.  She also had a xray to rule out a enlarged heart at that  time.  We have a new doctor and he believes she is just stressed.  But, I feel it has to be something more.

Agree with serana mostly, fits the bill for postural/vagal type of syndrome. Id be most suspicious for that.

Also fits the bill for other conduction system disorders involving accessory pathways, such as wolf parkinson white, which is easily ruled out via ekg, which im assuming shes had already.

In any case the condition doesnt sound like anything serious or dangerous. Biggest concern would be if she were to start passing out as a result of the episodes, in which case the worry is that shed take a fall and hurt her self as opposed to actual damange to the heart per se.

Have you looked into Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome?  Something to consider given her heart rate increases (over 40 beats for children) so much from posture changes.  It is a form of dysautonomia.  There is a great website Dysautonomia international .org that has tons of information.
