I followed my doctors orders. I had an ablation for SVT on a Friday and went for a walk on Saturday.  Back to the gym on Sunday.  I didn't resume running or lifting heavier weights until a week later.  It's not so much your heart but the incision sites.  Exercise can aggravate them and you don't want to risk any type of infection.  The sites will remain swollen for awhile.  Start back lightly and gradually work up from there.

I had my ablation in Feb 08 and i started exercising a 2 weeks later.  Even though my doctor told me that I could within a week, I didn't want to chance anything.  Now I am a exercising guru, lol.

My ablation was for SVT and it is so wonderful that I no long have to worry about a rapid heart rate.

Best Wishes,
Rose

Depends on the type of ablation you had (for a-fib or PSVT). I've had 3 ablations for my PSVT and was able to go back to the gym within a week. It will also depend on how strenuous the exercise. If you want to do 150 lb weights, I think a week isn't long enough. I was just walking on the treadmill and doing light weights (40 - 50 lbs). There's no need to rush it because you'll probably feel tired for awhile. Your heart may take a couple of months to heal completely and settle down.

The easy answer is ask you Dr. There are lots of post ablation people here who can give you great insight into that answer.
