Thanks for the comments! I live in Butte, Mt. and my Ht Dr. called in a Specialist from Missoula and they both thought it would help me. My ht rate hasn't gone down once since Jan 28th and it is wearing on me. You are right, atrial flutter comes from the rt side of the heart. It is just scary no matter what!
Can't believe you have that dang Fibillation. How awful! Can they control it with meds? Have they tried shocking it back to rhythm? That is just terrible! I know I can't stand it much longer, all night racing and flipping and flopping drives me nuts. I am sure you know what I mean! Haave you other health issues that they are worried about? Gees how does one live with that ?
I'd give your doctor(s) the benefit of the doubt, but you can ask too. The odds of you coming out better verses worse. These decisions should also take into account the down side of doing nothing. In my case, I'm 70, my doctors do not want to do an ablation for my atrial fibrillation because my symptoms are not bad enough to justify the risk. This is the position of both my Cardiologist and my EP... they are colleagues in the same practice so I doubt that they often disagree.
AFib ablation is in the left atrium, the more difficult side to work on. If flutter is in the right atrium it is much less risky, I believe. I do not know if flutter is in the right side or not... some something to think about, ask about.
