HI. I agree with Jerry. I have never heard of mild regurg being considered one of the "underlying heart problems." I was always under the impression that meant heart disease.....one that could lead to a weak heart.
From your picture, I assume it is you with a daughter (my assumption) - nice picture, you are young and strong, that is a big plus.
I assume "they" are medical people who have done a echocardiogram or similar to find the regurgitation. Here the big plus is the word "mild"... I don't know about all valves, but I have read many times that mild regurgitation in a valve is not life threatening.
I am an old guy who learned he had a leaky mitral valve about ten years ago, and I had it repaired about two years ago when I was 67. The message is: the leaky valve didn't take my life, not yet and I'll soon be 70. I bring this up as regurgitation may (does?) result in some leakage between the chambers it is trying to seal, is related to the condition I had.
Talk it over with you doctor(s), I'm sure if they (s/he) thinks you are at risk of "dropping dead" they would have you under active care right now.
