Has anyone taken the weight loss drug, Phentermine?

I have had a long history of having skipped beats (sometimes 3 or 4 in a row) which absolutely scare me to death.  I am about 30-40 lbs overweight and some of my friends and co-workers have been doing the medical weight loss with the B-12 shots and Phentermine pills.  I am so scared to take the pills because I am terrified about my heart.  I feel I don't have a lot of options because due to constantly being depressed and having anxiety about the skipped beats I eat to make myself feel better.  I know it's the easy way out but I would love to do it and get the weight off.  I am afraid I would pay the money and then quit because I am scared about my heart or too anxious.

Thank you!

Hi.  I actually did take Phentermine.  I was shocked I even got it from my Dr. due to my bp just getting under control with meds.  I was leary of it also at first as far as "addiction" so I only took a half of one in the AM then put a piece of bread in the other side of cap. for the next day and skipping one out of every 4 days.

I lost 48#s in 6 months with eating right and working out.  The weight came back within a year.  I do have issues with light chest pains every couple minutes and a heart rate that goes from low to high fast or visa versa.  I don't know if this helps or not.

I would try to loose it on your own though as mentioned above before using any pills.  If you do deside to; Tell your Dr. all of your fears and let your Dr. tell you what they think is best for you from a medical stand point.  My BMI is 26 but I would not try taking anything anymore.  I am loosing some by just trying to eat right, force myself to snack like a rabbit, and working out.  Changing the way you eat, snack and workout seems to permently keep it off; the others dont.

Phentermine is very very dangerous for your heart and can cause fatal rhythms.  You might want to consider healty eating and exercise.  Weight Watchers is a well balanced program that I have always had alot of success with.  Best wishes and steer clear of that medication.

We sound alot alike. I also have skipped beats all the time and several in a row and terrible anxiety. I wouldn't take anything for loosing weight. I would talk to your doctor.

I think just eating healthy and going for walks every day will work it may take longer but it will be alot safer for you.

Take care,

Tara
