Heart flutter - it's all over the place

I am 72 years old. Have been diagnosed with heart mumur 2 years ago. After that consultation and various scans and echogram I was told that I have a moderate leaking heart valve.  I have always had mild palpitations for many years.  Today it's been fluttering and irregular all day and must say I am starting to be quite anxious. Yesterday I fasted for 30 hours with only 500 calories intake as I am slightly overweight. I am not feeling feint, I feel OK apart from the ticker not beating properly.  Do you think there is any connection with fasting and irregular heart rhythm?

Thanks

Pete

You are welcome, and at "our age" it is always best to get symptoms check by a doctor.  I can't say I am very good at following my own advice.

Good luck,

Fasting if it causes stress, mental and physical, could cause some heart rhythm problems.

If you can take aspirin without stomach or other problems, I think it would be a good idea to start on an aspirin a day, then make an appointment to see a doctor to get a diagnosis.

Atrial fibrillation is more likely with age, you at 72 are in that group.  Leaky valves, there are at least 4 of them, best I can recall, is rather common and usually not serious.. unless it gets too leaky.  This happened to me with my Mitral Valve which was repaired with surgery a number of years ago.
