yes they are just extra beats from bad pathways of cells that misfire...BUT with enough of them continually they weaken the heart; that's why it's so rare and takes a TON and quite a length of time for it to happen

all of the technical stuff I'm not certain of - I'll go ask in the dr's expert forum and get them to give me a detailed description for you - I believe my dr used the word dysschrony? but I can't think of the technical jargon to explain it all sorry :(

I believe you're referring to pvc induced cardiomyopathy? Cardiomyopathy is a weakening of the heart muscle or a change in heart muscle structure. It is often associated with inadequate heart pumping or other heart function problems.

search MH and you'll find in the expert section quite a bit of info about CM.  Most times when a patient develops pvc-induced CM, when the cause is treated CM is reversed, however PVC induced CM is rare and can happen with very frequent pvc's - i.e. over 15% pvc's (roughly 15,000+ pvc's daily) for quite awhile.

However, emerging data suggest that very frequent ventricular ectopy (>4000/24 h) may be associated with the development of cardiomyopathy related to abnormal electrical activation of the heart. This mechanism is thought to be similar to that of chronic right ventricular pacing associated cardiomyopathy.  http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/761148-followup

Are you referring to pvcs causing cardiomyopathy? I dont know if they know why. I know a couple people on here developed that after having a crazy high number of them. I believe 20-50 thousand a day. I just heard also some study said if you have 4000 it also can cause it. I dont know, every body is different.

I am unaware that they do weaken heart muscles.  Where did you get that information?

I have constant atrial fibrillation and have never been told it weakens any of my heart muscles.  It does reduce pumping efficiency....  In general, exercise makes muscles stronger, not weaker.  Of course heart rhythm problems can go too far and even cause heart failure.  

Only a doctor can tell you what risks your (assumed) PVC and PAC condition causes.
