Help me understand if my doctor hasn't explicitly told me...

I have a-fib and atrial flutter.  That is about all I know.  I see all of the acronyms.  So--I feel my heart beat--in my neck most of the time--if I try to count it--1,2,3 pause......4,5,6,7,8,9, pause........, etc.  are those PVC's?  Or can I not tell without someone reading my ECG to me and explaining?
I had an ablation 2 weeks ago, am on Rythmol.  Still feeling the irregular heartbeats.  Reading a lot of posts.  Trying to figure out if I'm supposed to be feeling the irregular heartbeats still.

If you have both a-fib and flutter why was the ablation only done for the flutter?  I was able to tell the difference between my a-fib/flutter and my pvc's. My pvc's were just skipped beats while my a-fib was a very rapid irr. heart rate. However I was told that the monitor showed both pvc's and pac's. I could not tell the difference between those two.

Given you know your have AFib, I believe as a minimum you need to be on an anticoagulant.  If you are not, and if you are able to take aspirin I recommend you take an aspirin a day, or a half aspirin or baby aspirin as you prefer.  This will reduce the risk of a blood clot which is one of the main concerns for AFib sufferers.  Of course if your AFib is seldom,  the risk is lower than it would be if you have AFib all the time, as I  do. I take 5 mg of Warfarin (Coumadin) every day as well as 1/2 an aspirin.... among other medications.

I should have rephrased.  I was diagnosed with atrial flutter and a-fib.  The ablation was done for the atrial flutter.  The med is for the a-fib.  What I am wondering is if the 'feeling' of the irregular heartbeats (the feeling of skipped beats or pauses)--can we ourselves tell if they are pvcs, pacs---or do they all feel similar and only the ecg reading can tell what they are?  When the nurse asks how I am doing---I say 'okay'--I'm pretty okay--still feeling those skipped beats.  Does having skipped beats or whatever they are mean that you are having afib?  Is there a difference?  Just trying to understand all of the terminology.
No, I wasn't sent home with a monitor afterwards.
I don't go back for follow up with EP for another 2 months.

Your ablation was only 2 weeks ago. You have to give your heart time to heal. After my ablation I did have some PVC's and Pac's. About 2 weeks after my ablation they were horrible. Put after some time they have calmed down. Are you a 30 day event monitor? My EP sent me home from my ablation with the monitor to see if I was having any a-fib or flutter after. The monitor did show the pvc & pac.

Will it seems you have relationship with one or more heart specialists...so they should tell you what you symptoms mean.

I can say from your description you do not have AFib or AFlutter.  They are characterized by some quick pulses, then pauses, and other quick pulses for AFib and regular high pulse rate, usually over 130 bpm at rest.  That said, maybe you do have PVC, but I don't think any of us on this community can say with an certainty.
