Increased heart rate

Hi Guys,

I am 31, 5'4 about 120lbs.

In November of 2008 I started having increased heart rate. It usually starts slow and increases gradually . Normally my heart rate is anywhere between 66  and 78. The increase is to the mid-upper 90's (recently reached 102 about a week ago, but not usually) without  physical exertion. I have no other symptoms. It usually occurs before menstruation, near ovulation, after eating or just randomly- It seems. I have been under some stress. I am dealing with that; the symptoms have improved as a result.  Now, I just kind of expect them during the times listed above- so I don't panic too much. Episodes last from 30 minutes to 1 hour. Although the first few times, they lasted 2-3 hours at about 90-120 bpm.

Has anyone experienced this? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Sounds like anxiety to me too. Sometimes I can literally feel my heart tuning up and it gets faster and faster like a race horse in the home stretch.

I notice mine when I am close to my period, during it and when I ovulate too. I hear it can be hormonal, so, maybe that is your case. Eating and drinking lots of water cause an increase as well as PVC's. Do you have food allergies? Sometimes those can elevate your heart rhythm.

Are you under any extra stress, that, of course, is always a reason for the increased rate.

Hope this has helped.

Hi
I remember once a doctor telling me if my heart rate increases gradually it is most likely anxiety related.  SVT or other types of palps start out of nowhere and end just as abrubtly.   My guess is that it is anxiety and you need to just keep doing what you are doing by not getting to upset about it and it should settle down once your stress level is reduced.
