Thanks for your insight(s). I heard that the followup treatment would be, possibly, a pacemaker. I do have an appointment with my Cardiologist at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital...great docs. And you're right, since I am asymptomatic...may just be routine followups to keep an eye on things.
Thanks again!
If it's not symptomatic then treatment is usually not necessary.
Sounds like you have an athletic heart which usually have low resting pulse rates.
The only way I'm aware of to treat bradycardia (if it becomes symptomatic) is with a pacemaker. Again, no symptoms, not required.
BTW, my resting will sometimes get into the high 40s and I'm no longer athletic at all....I used to be.
I've heard of folks with very athletic hearts getting into the 30s with no symptoms.
The other thing to consider is that endurance athletes are 5x more likely to develop arrhythmias than the general population. Tons of exercise doesn't necessarily mean a better heart or longevity. My 95 year old grandmother avoided exercise at all costs, except gardening :-)
I think your questions is better answered by your doctor.
I have bradycardia. I don't know how low my heart rate is. However, my doctor asked me if I am symptomatic, which I am not, so he has chosen to do nothing about it.
