New Here and Looking for Answers

Hi, I'm new to this forum and looking for some answers. I am a 34 year old female, good health, nonsmoker. Last March I went to the ER for what seemed like a heart incident. Nothing was found. Went to the cardio and did EKG, echo, stress echo, Holter for 2 weeks. The only found were palpitations (premature beats) which they said was nothing to worry about. What I actually had was GERD and probably also an anxiety attack thinking it was my heart. I took meds for awhile then the GERD came back this fall.

However, the other day, out of no where I had an irregular heartbeat that scared the heck out of me. It felt like someone pinched by heart, then it pounded hard, and I felt numb and cold and dizzy (like I was going to faint). It only last for less than a minute. I do have a appointment with the cardio tomorrow. I had just started taking Nexium 2 days before (for the GERD) and I have been having a lot of stress (I had a breast lump that came back benign). I got that news the day before the episode, so you would think I would be elated, not having strange heart stuff. Now, I'm anxious all over again with my heart. It doesn't help that I have these anxiety attacks (with pounding heart) from worrying about things. Or that I have some numbess/tingling down my left arm (could it be from the Nexium)?

Ugh. I just want to know my heart is okay and not have any more episodes either.
Thanks for listening.

Hello...

Sorry you're feeling worried. However, it should give you peace of mind knowing that all your testing ruled out any signs of diseased heart.

The premature beats you are feeling are a very common finding in just about everybody. They will annoy and scare you before they hurt you. I'm glad to read that your breast lump was benign. Stress can definitely trigger etopy in the heart.

Sometimes, increased levels of anxiety can mimic heart attack symptoms. Knowing that your tests proved to you that your heart is good and healthy, I think it is safe to say your symptoms are more likely that of anxiety. Try to relax a bit. You will be seeing your cardiologist tomorrow, you may want to mention the numbness and tingling in your arm and see what he says...

Let us know how your appt. goes:)
