i think i just had a run of pvc or nsvt

I was just sitting here minding my own business and out of nowehere came a bunch of pvc's that had me grabbing my desk to make sure I was still here.  It scared me so badly!  It was like my heart took a few seconds to start beating properly and it was downright FRIGHTENING!

I don't know if that was NSVT or what.  I can't remember experiencing anything quite like this.  It was like a pvc and then a couple together and I could feel my heart trying to beat normallly, but it took a few seconds and I just sat at my desk to afraid to move.  I am so freaked out now.  I don't take meds anymore-been of for over 4 months now.
Sometimes my hormones make my pvc's flair up but I don't know where this came from.  I haven't had any caffeine or anything.  I am tired, but that is not unusual.

Can someone help?   I am an old member and have not posted in a while.

Well, when I read Wisconsin's I was thoroughly thrilled because it sounded just like what I posted about two weeks ago.  It was nice to hear.  Although I never could sit through this, I usually jump up and hope it goes back.  Then I read Jondsam's and thought that sounded like it, too.....so it was either hardly anything or NSVT.  HAHAHAHAHAHA  Yup, pretty much back to square one with me.  I've had these for 30+ years and they NEVER cease to surprise me.....gotta love it.

Thanks for the response.  I think what I had sounds more like what you describe jondsam and that is why it scared me so badly.....becasue I had never experienced that before.  I just came from the cardiologist a couple weeks back and she told me after my next appointment, which isn't for another few months, that I would only need to see them on a "as need" basis.  Seriously, my hormones have been OUT of whack-am actually thinking I need to see my gyno to see what is going on.  But I'm still a bit scared.  Everything has been pretty quiet as of late.

My husband thinks it's because I have been running around doing a lot of stuff, stressing a lot and not getting the proper amount of sleep.  But that doesn't make me feel any better :-)  You know what I mean?

I just pray that this too shall pass!

Hello, I have had PvC's for years, and my last holter showed almost 6000 in a 24 hour period.  It also showed 6 runs of NSVT which the longest run was 18 beats long.  The others were only 6 and 8 beats long.  NSVT feels like a chaotic multiple PvC that wont stop.  If you know the feeling of having 1 PvC then NSVT is like have those feeling multiple times in a row.  If you felt like they were happening in a row continously than more than likely it was NSVT.  NSVT in a normal heart is really not life threating and usually is considered benign.  You should maybe go to the doc and get a holter to make sure your not going down the wrong road.

I know exactly how you're feeling now.  Exactly.  I've had PVC's for years, but back in December I started having these brief episodes that were different and scared the chit right out of me.  To me it felt like my heart was sputtering, I'd feel a heavy beat, then more sputtering, a pause, a heavy beat, and after what felt like 5 minutes but was probably 5 seconds, my heart got in one last heavy beat, then back to normal.

Immediately after I felt sick to my stomach.  Weak.  Jittery.  Totally panicked.

Long story short, I wore the King of Hearts event monitor for just over a month, recorded some of my nasties, a cardiologist took a look (and showed me), and I was floored to see rhythm strips that looked like totally normal rhythms, just with a few beats stacked very close to each other.  What would happen is my heart rate would jump from say 70bpm to 120 or more for a few beats, back down to 70 for a beat, back up to 120ish for a few, then back down to stay.  But all indications showed atria and ventricles firing as they should - just that they were doing so rapidly for a few beats.  My cardio was hesitant to even call it PAT because it was so brief.

But until I was able to put some space between the event monitoring and myself, whenever I had these episodes my mind would be in total panic mode and I wouldn't be able to discern what was actually going on inside my chest.  After having seen the numerous EKG's and the conversation with the cardio, I was able to relax (if that's possible) during these episodes to actually feel what was going on, and now I can tell it's just a matter of a few quick beats here and there.  I still pause when they happen, but now I'm not questioning whether I should be screaming for my wife to call 911 or not.

And this is from someone who had a decade worth of PVCs - so don't assume it's a progression of a ventricle problem just because you've had PVCs, too.

Now what I have may not be what you have, but if it is, my cardiologist was pretty sure I shouldn't need to see her again for a long while.

I sure hope so.  But what concerns me is it felt like the strange rhythm would not stop. And I don't know about NSVT either to really know if that is what I had.   I mean, I was ready to call 911 if it had continued.  I haven't been down that road in almost 2 years.  I have had a hard time with my hormones this past month so I am praying that was it; but you know how you are always trying to find a solution and you know deep down that you won't find one?  I am still a bit apprehensive, but I have to keep pressing forward.

I have had pacs before, but for some reason they don't scare me as much as the pvc's do.  Go figure.

When they hit "out of the blue" like that, it can be very scary. If you have not had any for awhile, they will be more noticeable and frightening as well. It does not sound like NSVT to me, but, then, I am not too familiar with that, I have the PAC's, and they scare me like crazy. I have been reading or relaxing, and they come out of nowhere, when that happens, I am ruined for the day.

Hormone fluctuation can sure cause these things too, so, maybe that is what you were experiencing.
