i agree with Lisa. You need to know how many, what type, where they originate (left or right ventricle) to be able to determine whether they are benign or not. Even then, if you get more than 4000 a day then you are potentially at risk of getting cardiomyopathy.
Alot of the cardiologists either don't know, are unaware of or don't believe in the emerging research in this area which suggests that frequent PVCs in many people may not in fact be benign, rather it can lead to left ventricular dysfunction. I have posted previous research on this matter but as recently as today have found more research which is even more compelling.
Bottom line- see a cardiologist
it all depends on how many pvc's, what type and where they originate - even if you have a healthy heart, if your number of pvc's are significant i.e. above 15-20% of your total 24 hr heartbeats, keep a careful eye out
Find what yours are, what your triggers are and control stress & anxiety over these dreaded two headed purple people eaters :P Oh yes, keep a journal of symptoms, dates, times etc to discuss with your doctor
were you told they arent dangerous (benign), they arent dangerous if you have a healthy heart, i have anxiety so i get them i find if i ignore them i dont notice them, they scare me though, ive had loads of ecgs and they say im fine,
All I can tell you from a fellow PVC'er, is not to get caught up online reading and searching endlessly about your problem. If the doctor tells you that you are ok, than go about your business and forget about them. The best thing you could ever do is forget about them and live a happy life. If you dont they will consume you, cause anxiety, which will actually make them worse. Out of all the other serious arrhythmias out there and heart diseased patients, feel lucky you only have PVC's.
Once PVC's are there , the chances that they will go away for good are slim to none. You might be able to lessen them but chances are you are stuck with them. Think of them like a new companion and live your life together in harmony.
I can try to help, but I need to understand this first. Do you want to know more about PVCs? Want them to go away? Are you afraid of them?
