Is a pacemaker operation a minor thing? Or so I heard?
I have been on diltiazem 120 er for 2weeks..brain fog is gone but still tired all thetime..switched from 9 at nite to noon time, because I couldn't function at all in the morning,,its better but still don't have very much energy at all..im tired of being tired!! doc says pacemaker looks fine..what do we do????????????????
Irene,
The literature says that Toprol seldom causes weakness, but I'm finding that most people I ask experience weakness. I suppose the literature is based on a very low dosage. I know what you mean by brain fog. It's like a light headache, confusion, and vertigo all stirred together. Yecch!
Good luck, hope it settles down.
It seems heart meds are notorious for causing fatigue. They say it gets better in time. I took my Diltiazem for 3 months (it's a CCB) and although I did get over the headaches and dizziness, the brain fog and general "I don't care" feeling was still there. Wish my hunger had gone away :-) See if you can feel some improvement in a week or so.
Irene,
You sound *exactly* like me. Pacemaker, 50mg, reduced to 25mg 8 days ago, still weak and dizzy. I don't know what else to blame it on except the Toprol.
Good luck, and hope you get it sorted out soon. Let us know!
Thanks, I just had my check up on Tuesday, everything looked ok. I am taking metoprolol 50mg, it could be side effects from this drug? I had blood tests done yesterday and they are find...I feel very weak, not hungry at all, in the mornings until mid afternoon and then I recover a bit until the next day that I feel the same again...do not know what to do...the doctor cut the dose to 25mg, but I still feel weak. Any help is highly appreciated.
When is your follow-up visit? You should definitely mention this to the cardio and it may just be a matter of adjusting the settings on your pacemaker. Do you have any signs of infection like fever, redness at the incision site, short of breath? If you do, then go in as soon as you can.
