Questions

Hey all, I'm 15 almost 16 year old male, I'm 6'4 and I weigh 225. So here's my problems. About a month or so, I started having what I think to be palpitations or maybe PVCs. It freaked my out! It always happens at nighttime. I balanced my diet out, and went to the doctor. He couldn't find anything wrong in my physical. So he ordered a echocardiogram. And then a holter monitor which I wore for 24 hours with a few symptoms.im still awaiting the results of that. But Lately, in the past weeks I've been worried as heck! I haven't had any "big" palpitations but I've been feeling flutters in my left side chest and in the abdomen, and sometimes In my neck.  I believe because of my problems, I've developed anxiety. I get the feelings that I'm going to pass out, I feel lightheaded and become numb in my mouth. After those symptoms, I'm shaky and sweaty.  I'm trying to eat right and haven't drank any caffeine. So today, everytime I stand up, "I see stars" which I was told it was because I had a drop in blood pressure. So I'm wondering i guess is this all due to stress or anxiety? Or do you think I have a underlying problem? The echo didn't show anything wrong.  I also notice that my resting heart rate is between 50-60bpm I get up and walk to the kitchen, and it's 119bpm. So I wonder if I have irregular heart beat?  I'm just so confused and scared! Any advise? Or anyone having similar problems?

Also- mine really only happen when I am relaxing or trying to sleep (so at a resting or low heartrate). If this is the same for you, try and get up and do something else to raise your heartrate and take your mind off of it.

I have been having irregular heartbeats practically my whole life. They would come and go very rarely since I was about 11 years old. I am now 20, and for some reason or another I have been having them much for frequently for the past 6 months- anywhere from 20-90 a day that I can feel. These things are EXTREMELY annoying and debilitating, especially when you don't know much about them. I myself have been to my cardiologist and regular doctor about 5 times, have had an echocardiogram, a 48
Hour holter monitor and multiple EKGs. After a lot of reassurance, I have been told that these things are not harmful and in fact many people experience them from time to time. I have what are called PVCS and PACS. There is a lot of good information online about these things.

The most important thing you can do is get checked out to ensure that nothing more serious is going on, which is sounds like you have done so far. If the doctor finds something more they will surely let you know! I have been told to cut out caffiene. Personally, that hasn't helped much but it's worth a try. Also I find that exercising can suppress these irregular beats and decrease my stress level. I'm a naturally anxious person and have a history of panic attacks, so part of me thinks that may contribute also. These things are complicated to understand and to find a cause for them, but as long as you have been given a clean bill of health the best thing you can do is to focus on other things and continue to live life:) Eat right, get plenty of exercise and have fun. It's tough being so young and having these issues, but trust that it is not uncommon!

Hang in there & never be afraid to go back to your doctor if you need reassurance!
