Resting heart beat 27, rest normal

My resting heart beat is 27, and rises if I get up, drive or do any of the normal activity lists.  I do sport and then my heart is normal and easily goes over 100 while I am excercising and comes down pretty fast to the thirties.
This seems abnormal ?  I feel healthy and well though am worried.

Hi Jerry and ksig,

My reading of 27 is correct.  I've been using a the Polar heart monitor and checked with my GP.  Will be following up with a surgeon, but it looks like I need a pacemaker.

I am fit and have no negative symptoms other than perhaps not being able to perform as well as I used to.  I thought that was the effect of time, but perhaps it is my heart not coping.

The suggestion is that I might need a pacemaker to link the left and right chambers of the heart.

Hi, Sparks 10
I agree with Jerry_NJ.  A resting heart rate of 20 is TOO low if your recording is accurate.  Athletes sometimes do have lower HR but 20 is too low.  I'd see a doctor.  Are you feeling lightheaded at all?

I think there is a possibility your measurement is in error, how are you measuring your heart rate?  The electronic devices are sometimes not very accurate and subject to error conditions, such as poor contact with the skin.

If accurate, I think 27 is way too low and should be checked by your doctor.
