Should I ask for a second opinion on PACs?

Hi,

I have been having issues with my heart since I started IVF treatment back in Feb. I just started as Tachycardia, I ended up in the ER with pulse of 140 and was released after a few hours with doctor thinking it could be hormone related.  Once I got pregnant I noticed new symptoms such as dizziness and chest pressure which I assumed was all related and caused by the hormones so I soldiered on feeling about 70% my normal self.  I had daily palpitation attacks and was limited exercising due to chest pain.  Fast forward a few months when I lose the pregnancy.  Heart symptoms coming and going but getting worse each time they come back.  I went to see Cardiologist did Stress, Echo & Holter.  I had rare PACs, 300 in a 48 hour period and bouts of Tachy.. but overall average BPM was 75.  Dr again concluded this was in the normal range and again said to give another month or so to allow my body to recover from the hormone and stress of pregnancy loss.  The chest pain was attributed to Acid Reflux for which Im taking Prilosec.

When I leave the doctors office, I feel a sense of reassurement that this isnt serious.  However my doubts quickly come back, when I can sleep at 2am because of chest pain and the fast heart rate.  Im trying to balance the anxiety/obsession factor with keeping on top of this situation.  It is a daily battle where Im still not feeling myself but wit no doctors concerned its hard to know what to do.

From reading these forums, It seems that these symptoms dont go away easy.  Do you think I should ask for a second opinion from another cardiologist?  As I said the peace of mind you have in the doctors office subsides as symptoms continue, especially as this has consumed my life for 6 months.

Would really appreciate some advice from the experienced on this forum!

Thanks

Yes, absolutely!  Go get a second opinion.  It isn't normal for you to be having chest pain.

Are you taking any medications for the Tachycardia?  Some beta blockers not only help with the rapid heart rate, but also with anxiety.  It is true that your symptoms may be worsened by your focusing on them.  It is so easy for doctors to say, "don't worry about it," but it is easier said than done.  Maybe trying a low dose of something will help you.

Have you had a blood workup to check for things like thyroid imbalance, magnesium deficiency and so on?  There are so many things that could cause the rapid heart rate.

Hang in there!

Thanks!  Yes I have had blood done a few times, Thyroid fine.  They think Tachy, PACs could be hormonal and chest pain due to acid reflux.  Ill see how the Prilosec works, if the chest pain doesnt go away, Ill push doctors for more follow up on chest pain.  Doctor said to hold off on Beta blockers for now, but a potential option if tachy dosen't subside.

This is a curse of a condition... I wish someone would just shoot me in the leg rather than deal with these scarey chest issues.

Thanks - Do you have a normal quality of life?  Are you constantly restricted with your lifestyle, diet etc? I know I should be grateful that I am still relatively healthy and that there are definitely more serious conditions than PACs and Tachy,
