I got Giardia (intestinal parasite) from river water and was prescribed first Cipro for "travelers diarrhea" and when that didn't work I was prescribed Metronidazole for Giardia. I took Cipro for 5 days then Metronidazole for 10. During the course of Metro I started having chest pain. I dismissed them because I was having muscle pains in virtually all my muscles off an on. I became more concerned after I began waking up with my chest vibrating like a cell phone! Some days that wouldn't be happening but I'd wake up and my heart would feel like it was beating fast but I'd check my pulse in my neck and it would be slow. I had an EKG done and the results listed "Marked Sinus Bradycardia" (heart rate was 48) and "Borderline rhythm". I've been waiting more than a month for my appointment with a cardiologist. Good grief it is stressful at times. My heart rarely feels normal (as in a don't notice it). I wore a holter monitor for 24 hours and the doc said it looked, "pretty good but go to the cardiologist." What does "pretty good" mean!? This week I've felt the rapid heart rate feeling (check my pulse and it is slow) whenever I lay down. It makes it quite difficult to sleep! I have chest pain at some point each day.
My father has Mitral Valve Prolapse and his chest pains seem to be the same as mine.
My cardiology appointment CANNOT get here soon enough!
