Should I have the treatment for wolf parkingson white

Hi, 3 years ago i was at a friends house in a very smokey room, i had been drinking alchol and i felt sick and was struggling to breath as the room was so smokey so i stood up to go out side to get some air and as i did i felt sick and realy dizzy and my heart speeded up then i fainted i woke up a few seconds later and once i was outside i felt ok. I put this down to being in a smokey room and drinking as i dont usually drink. This happened again a year later in the same smokey room. It has never happened since. I recently went to my doctors for a check up and had an ECG i was then told i had WPW and was booked in for the ablation treatment. I dont want this treatment as i dont think the fainting was related to the WPW and have been told that WPW does not require treatment unless ther are syptoms present. i have tried talking to my consultant about this but he never seems to listen to what i have to say and i find him to be quite ingnorant, he doesnt seem to care what i want. what would you advise? Do you think i should have the treatment next week or wait until i have more information and time to think about this properly. thanks.

Hi.

First thing I would advise is to get a second opinion if you are not happy.

Second thing, I was treated for WPW. There are two kinds, the ones that goes un noticed, and then then one you have a syptom or an episode.

WPW CAN be very dangerous. I am not trying to scare you but I wenty 29 yrs without any symtoms and all of a sudden one day I had an attack where my HR was up on the 300's. I was in AFIB because of the wpw.  Was rushed to the hospital and placed in CCU for 5 days.

As for the ablation procedure it is a 95% cure rate. Thats pretty good.

Just do your research.

I have to agree - get a second opinion. I'm never comfortable if a doctor insists on doing a procedure (unless you're near death of course). My cardio always gives me the option of this or that. You've done some of your own research, you have questions and your doctor isn't being very helpful. See about getting a second opinion then decide.
