The paramedics do not use a twelve-lead EKG, which is the case in the ER, so the information is not complete. The missing piece is "what was your chief complaint?" They do not "refuse to take you to the hospital". You signed an "RMA" form (refused medical attention) Such variations are common in an eighty year old. Whether or not a hospital visit is in order depends upon the circumstances. Especially the reason you called 911. In the event of chest pain do not "get checked out by your doctor". Instead call 911 and insist on a hospital transport. Often effects of a heart problem disappear and are not reflected in an EKG. Usually a blood test for the cardiac enzymes are necessary.

I am not a doctor mind you so you may want to post your question in the expert forum though there is a fee to do so.
I would say that the EMTs didn't think that you were having a heart attack or any sort of emergency like that though the results indicate there possibly was one. That said, EKGs can often give false positive results. But at the time they had you on the monitor your heart was beating normal with a few extra ectopic beats though they didn't specify if they were pacs or pvcs. I would take your results to your doctor or cardiologist to make sure this wasn't a change from how your heart normally is. You weren't in a life threatening situation when the EMTs saw you but it is best if you were having symptoms like chest pain to go and get checked out by your doctor.
