anxiety attacks with metoprorol ER?

Hi I have been changing from Cardevidiol to Metorprolol ER and it has destroyed my life. I have been slowly increasing from 25mg to 75 mg and although I suffer with anxiety I have never experienced these intense feelings of THIS weird anxiety! Crawling, burning skin, supper tired but cannot relax, cannot eat, I feel like a zombie......HELP! My doctor says it is not from the pill but I know it it is. But I am afraid if he changes it to something else the same thing will happen. But I cannot live like this!!!!!

Why are you on a beta blocker in the first place?  Did you have this issue with the Carvedilol?  I do think there is an adjustment period for any meds but I have no experience with beta blockers so I can't say whether or not this is a common side effect.  Tiredness maybe but crawling burning skin seems like an allergic reaction to me.  Are you taking any other meds?  If you were fine on the Carvedilol then maybe you can ask to be switched back to that at a higher dose.

I am taking it for palpitations. It worked great for about  5yrs but then I had a stressful episode and Carvedlol stopped working.
I do think it does lose its effectiveness over time.   I think most meds do and the dose needs to be increased.  I guess since the dose was increased and changed why not ask if the old meds can be increased that you know you tolerated well.  Though not sure why the jump from 25 to 75, maybe first try 50mg and see if that does the trick.  Either way if Metorprolol is making you worse I would inform the doctor and try to be open to try something else.  You won't know until you try.

The other thing I will suggest, beyond working on ways to manage your anxiety like meditation, yoga and counseling, try to watch your caffeine intake and watch foods that irritate the stomach like chocolate, sugar, carbohydrates and spicy foods as well eating meals that are too large.  Stay well hydrated but try to not over drink during a meal and see if it helps bring the palps down.  Well Good luck with it all.  I hope you find relief soon.
ok, thanks so much
