I wouldn't ignore it eaither. Hopefully it's nothing, but when you're pregnant you can't ignore your body. Good luck:)
I've had PSVT all my life. That is a type of fast heart rate that suddenly starts, races for awhile and then suddenly stops. It's not harmful but it is uncomfortable and unpredictable.
I'm not thrilled with your doctor's attitude. Michelle is correct that until they see one of these episodes on a recording, they won't know for sure what's happening and put a name to it. Many people have to wear a heart monitor for a few weeks (very portable) to catch one of these. If it happens every day, a Holter monitor will pick it up in the 24 hours. Most likely what's happening is not dangerous but you should have someone find out for sure. Congratulations on the pregnancy and baby to be. I went through 3 pregnancies with my PSVT and did just fine. I hope you get answers soon.
You could be feelinng any number of things from simple sinus tachycardia to an svt or even possible runs of pacs or pvcs. No one can say for sure until it is captured but a few clarifications on the symptoms might give you a better idea of what it could be. Do you know how fast your rate is when you are feeling the fast beat? Does the fast rate start and stop suddenly or is it a gradual rise and fall? Do you feel lightheaded, faint or short of breath with the episodes? Do you sense any double beats or skipping feelings? It is very possible the baby is pressing on the vagus nerve and is sending signals to the heart causing it to act up. If this is the case this will likely clear up after the baby is born. In general a fast heart beat in a healthy heart isn't a health risk to the person. That said, I would take some notes for yourself on how fast your beat is, they sell heart rate watches at sporting goods stores if it is too hard to manually take your pulse. Then also note what you were doing when the fast beat started and and any symptoms that you might have beyond the fast beat as well as how often you are getting it. I would then take this information to your doctor and see what they have to say asking specifically if it will affect the health of your baby. I don't know that simple sinus tachycardia, a fast beat a bit over 100 beats per minute is of any concern to the baby but if you are getting fast beats in the 200s I would personally want assurance from my doctor that my baby is not at risk. I know there are women on this board who have had various svts and had healthy babies but I am not a doctor so I would make sure that this is fully investigated. I do believe that you and your baby are likely going to be just fine but keep on top of this. Take care and keep us posted on how you are doing.
hey Im 27 year old male and I get the same thing. Please do not stress too much on it because its just heart palpitations...everyone gets them but anxious people or Hypochondriacs tend to suffer from them due to our internalized creativity ....
