heart stopped for a long long time....

I take propranolol for pvc's. I had been sick and a dr prescribes anantibiotic(forget name) and it caused me to have such pvc,s I think I almost died. I was I think on my way out when my cat jumped on my chest, and started my heart to beat.  Went to the ER, the ekg was showing ovc's on top pf pvc's and the dr said my heart was spasming, and I was having chest pain and sob, because oxygen was not getting to heart......now I am paranoid.....should I have more tests? They did a catscan thinking something with my aorta, and that was ok. I had angiogram 6 years ago and it was pristeen clear.......I don't know what to think....any ideas?

I have been told that the antibiotics for dental work are no longer necessary unless you have serious heart conditions, such as artifical valves.  They also may interact with Warfarin and perhaps anti-arrthymic meds.  Make sure you ask your cardiologist if you actually need the antibiotics before dental work.  I've taken them for years and now the thinking is we don't need them.  You make want to check it out.  Good luck.

What is ovc?  What were you taking the antibiotic for?  It is possible the antibiotic caused a reaction or your illness started to affect your heart.  Besides the pvcs are you still having issues now or has it all cleared up since you were at the ER?  I would suggest making a follow up with your cardiologist to get checked out. It is likely once the meds are out of your system and/or you are past the illness things will sort themselves out but make an appointment to be sure.

What was the name of the antibiotic he prescribed? The dentist prescribed one for me and I have yet to start taking it for this reason.
