hey i read this and it made me feel a lot better, im 21/m, and have been athletic most of my life and i am not used to anything out of the ordinary healthwise. One night i had a fainting spell , and it kind of spooked me and made me overly aware of my body and specifically my heart. I will get random slight very slight ache in the left chest area, i thought was wierd but tried to ignore it (turns out to be nothing as a doctor told me any chest pain that does not last more than some seconds at a time is never dangerous, this put my mind at ease). but also i have been very aware of my 'heartbeats' , and im really glad to hear that skipped beats are common and non threatening , sometimes i worry about it so much i cant sleep. This has added to my confidence that everything is okay :)
I work in the medical profession and deal with people that have a mulitude of symptoms on a daily basis. If I were to attend a patient presenting with your symptoms, I don't think I would be worried.
Of course I do not have the benefits of seeing you, examining you and using monitoring equipment etc. but certainly I dont find these symptoms concerning.
It is normal to find that you experience strange tingling symptoms when you've slept on your arm. I don't think this is connected to your sensation of the heart 'skipping' beats.
The feeling of a heart 'skipping' beats is totally normal. Sometimes it can happen 40-50 times a day in a normal person! The problem is, once someone starts noticing them, they become more aware of them and rather than it simply pass un-noticed, your heightened awareness of it means you simply notice them more.
I would imagine that this sudden 'fluttering' feeling worried you and subconsciously distracted you from the pins and needles / tingling in your arm for a short time.
Of course, if you are still worried or the strange feelings continue, why not go get yourself checked out. I dont know your history but I would imagine everything would come back just fine!
Hi there how the heck are you?
I'm sort of going through your post in my mind - 3am wake up i absolutely hate as i associate it with SVT's so step 1 you're doing good
Tingling arm cos I've been sleeping on it - yep - been there loads of times.
That odd thing when you're dropping off again and you're heart almost stops and then thumps back to life again - been there loads of times.
So all in all seems to me that waking up at 3am is the culptit this time - what do you think?
better sleep tonight.
