Hello....
I had the tilt table study done 1.5 years ago. I did not pass out, was administered the nitroglycerine, still did not pass out but felt very sick from the medication with severe migraine and nausea.
The study came back inconclusive but symptoms "suggested" orthostatic hypotension. Instructions were to drink 2 litre of water per day and 3g of salt. Don't like salt so one way I get thru this is to eat a hard boiled egg in the am and roll it in salt. Blahhhh. Started drinking gatorade as well.
I saw that cardiologist that ordered the Tilt Table Study 3 times and 2 phone calls informing him I was so symptomatic and he didn't address it at all. Said I could try compression stockings waist high. Asked my PCP about an EP (electrophysiologist) he said I didn't need one. Landed in ER 5 days later with big episode.
So 3 big episodes that they think are contributing to low blood pressure but they are not sure. The latest (February) resulted in a 3 day hospital stay with MRI's, CT's, Carotid U/S, Nuclear Stress Test and Cardiology consult. The cardiologist had no clue. The 1st cardiologist that had me do the Tilt Table Study wants a repeat Tilt Table Study for what reason is beyond me since he didn't address my concerns originally.
I had already a month long appt. scheduled with an Electrophysiologist due to a recommendation from my ENT and Endo and he suggested Florinef.
He was baffled as to why no one suggested if prior.
I personally know two others who have undergone the test. Both passed out. One dx with Vasovagal Syncope and the other with Neurally Mediated Hypotension.
What are your symptoms that took you for the study?
