So glad you are feeling better. Keep us posted!
Thanks for the encouragement Tom. I'll keep everyone posted on my progress as time goes on. Hopefully other people that are just being diagnosed with this or are contemplating ablation will find these kind of posts helpful, and to know that they are not alone:)
While the physicians say 6 to 8 weeks recovery time, most of us experience post ablation symptoms for up to a year and beyond. I had PVC's and a couple of shorts runs of SVT daily for at least a year following mine. All the symptoms gradually vanished. Congrats!
Today was my post-op appointment. It has been 8 days since my ablation. Dr. said during my ablation I had 3 kinds of arrhythmia present- One was the same as I had 12 yrs ago which is called AV Nodal Reentrant Tachycardia, and he feels this was the main reason for my problems. The other two that presented were Atrial Flutter and Atrial Fibrillation. I was a little freaked out by this, but he said he felt that the Atrial Flutters and Fibrillation were more medically induced due to meds they administer during all the testing. He said he wasn't too worried about it, but we would keep watch and only time would tell. He said the heart normally takes 6 to 8 weeks to completely heal from Ablation, but since I have still been getting so many palpitations, he wants me to wear a 24hr monitor to see whats going on. I am feeling pretty good and I have only had a couple of pesty palps today, but they subside fairly quickly so that eases my mind. For anyone else going through this, I just want to say hang in there. Once our hearts heal, we are going to have a new chance of an SVT FREE life!
Wow, you just described almost exactly what I am feeling! As far as the rash, I thought maybe the stickers were the problem because I still have read squares and circles left over from where they were, but the rash on my neck and chest looks more like blotchy hives. Maybe it could be from all the adhesive? The rash really doesn't bother me, its more the heart quivering that had me a little scared! But, like you said, the Dr.'s say its normal after what our hearts have been through! I'm glad you're feeling better, have your weird palpitations gone away?
For about two weeks after my ablation (which was on may 13th of this year) every time I was getting ready to leave the house I would get this awkward feeling coming from my heart. It felt as if it was quivering, and sometimes as If it was in a svt all together but the rate was normal. It would do this off and on the whole time I was out of the house. I had my follow up yesterday and the Dr. Said it was normal. As for your rash that's really strange. Could the rash be from the stickers they used during the procedure? When I had to have a 30 day holter my skin broke out where I had the stickers at. And after my ablation my skin was a little red for a few days where all the stickers and pad things were.
Hi, well, I ended up going back to the hospital because my palpitations seemed to keep growing stronger and stronger and I wanted to make sure I was ok. Of course, they said everything looked fine and my heart was just going a little fast. (really?!) Dr. on call didn't say much about my rash which hasn't let up since I've been on Benedryl. He said just to follow up with my EP cardiologist. I have an appt. with my Dr. on Thursday of next week. My heart settled down for a few hours, but I feel another onset. I'm just going to stay hydrated and ride it out:(
I hope you are feeling better very soon! Rest, rest, rest!
Just remember that all an ablation does is to put up a roadblock I'm the accessory path. The pathway still remains. Sometimes the pathway can reconnect across the scar bridge that built up from the procedure. Give it a few months to recover.
It's not unusual for the heart to flutter and hiccup for quite a few weeks after an ablation. Each case is different and that may be due to the spot that was ablated or how many applications were made. With you it may be due to the ablation and the heart is healing or it could be from the allergic reaction you're having. Is the Benedryl helping at all?
