Hey Paul i read your post. The main thing you need to do is to not try to self treat yourself if you have been diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat or rapid heart beat and go see a heart doc for treament. It can be very dangerous trying to take care of this yourself because there is obviously something in your system that is throwing your heart out of whack here. If you have an irregular heart beat that can be super easily remedied by a doctor and that is who you seriously need to see in order to get the correct treatment. In using homeopathic meds, herbs, etc. you could hurt yourself rather than help yourself without the supervision of a doctor. Take it to heart Paul.......
Paul,
I think you may have mistakenly posted your question in the dysautonomia forum instead of posting in Heart Rhythm. Because I don't see anything in your profile or posts you have made elsewhere to indicate that you have POTS (or any other form of dysautonomia), I'm going to go ahead and move your post to the appropriate forum and suggest that you disregard the specific advice re: "POTS" in the above response, as it's targeted to a certain form of dysautonomia in particular and I suspect it doesn't apply to you whatsoever. Sorry about the confusion.
If you do indeed have dysautonomia and I'm mistaken in moving your post to the Heart Rhythm forum, please send me a private message by hovering over my username, "heiferly" at the top of this post and selecting "send message" from the dropdown menu, and let me know. I will help get your question moved back to our dysautonomia forum if you let me know that that's the case.
Best wishes,
-heiferly.
Hi, I also have an irregular heart beat ontop of POTS. Now I guess it all depends on what kind of irregular heartbeat you have. If its just premature beats avoiding caffeine, alcohol and smoking will help prevent these beats. Also I am aware that staying hydrated and making sure your electrolytes are balanced helps a lot to prevent them. I do know that some irregular beats are due to extra pathways or a "electrical short" within the heart. Antiarrhythmics or beta blockers may help retore sinus rhythm :) Me personally, I have atrial tachycardia and I try very hard to make sure my electrolytes are within a healthy range, I drink ample amounts of fluids in a day (coffee and tea do not count! They dehydrate you). I am on a beta blocker which helps control my POTS symptoms and heart rate. Depending on your irregular heart beat ablation may be an option for you! Although if your irregular rhythm is due to POTS iit is strongly suggested to not have this procedure. You did not say if you have seen a cardiologist or what type of irregular beat you have. More information may help the more educated members assist you a bit better! :) hope you are well!
