SVT and chest pain

I'm a 78 yr old female and have been sick for the past 8 years with sudden onset s.o.b. and chest pain on the slightest exertion.  I've had every heart and lung test incl. 2 heart caths.  I just finished wearing a 30 day event monitor and the result is:
"Abnormal cardiac event monitor with a total of 58 recordings, 8 of them showed non sustained paroxysmal svt that were asymptomatic. She had one asymptomatic 6 beat run of monomorphic ventricular tachycardia. She had multiple symptomatic recordings of chest pain and sob, all showing sinus rhythm and sinus tachycardia."
Mr dr. has me on 40mg inderal but offered no suggestions that help my symptoms.
Can you help??
Florence

I get SVT or PSAT (supraventricular tachycardia/paroxysmal tachycardia), my cardiologist says they are all terms for the same thing...fast rhythms related to the atrial node... These are usually not dangerous rhythms in of themselves. I do not get VT though...whereby the ventricles beat too fast or uncoordinated with the atrium beats. Usually SVT/PSAT needs treatment only if symptoms are unbearable to you, as they are to me. VT usually needs treatment even if it isn't symptomatic, depending on the cause.

I know after I have a bout of having SVT My chest hurts. I do have consistent Sinus tachycardia too.  And because my heart rate runs too high most the time...at which causes me symptoms of not being able to breath chest discomfort, tightness in chest, and feeling fatigued all the time, I got to the point that I couldn't even bend over without starting tachycardia.  I was put on Beta blockers.  I still have some symptoms but not as bad.

So, I am not a cardiologist and he is the best one to talk about the issue.  For me Inderal  made everything worse.  I was changed to Toprol.  I still have problems, and have had to make many dose adjustments and still am through my cardiologist's help.  So maybe your cardiologist needs to change your med. to find one that works better for you. Or a change in dosage might be what you need.  I have been on several meds. at several doses and I know that there is no one med. or dosage that will work perfectly for all...so a trial and error maybe all that's needed.

Please do not do this on your own though as it can be dangerous. I encourage you to talk with your cardiologist about how you feel. And ask a lot of questions.

I hope things get a little smoother for you soon.
