Metoprolol and all beta blockers have side effects, from few to too many. Mostly, it depends on the individual and the dose level. I can take 50 mg a day to some benefit, but 100 mg or more makes me dizzy prone and tired. So, if your doctor doesn't see metoprolol as anything more than to help you live with the symptoms, then it makes sense to pick the path of least trouble..still an aspirin regiment may be a good idea. The only bad side effect from aspirin is it upsets some people's stomach. I seem to get by fine.
I am not an aspirin salesman.
I am not on any medications. However, my doctor did prescribe me metoprolol for the pvc's. I am not currently taking them since i don't want to be on a medication every day for something that happens once in a while. Not sure realy what to do.
Sounds like you need to discuss with your doctor and at least have a electrocardiogram taken and reviewed.
In the meantime I think it would be a good idea to go on an aspirin therapy - one or one-half a regular aspirin a day with a meal. This is a general good preventive measure to help give you some protection while you decide what to do.
You say you have benign PVC, so I assume you have been diagnosed by a doctor. Are you on any medications?
