palpatations and exercise

Forgive me if this has been asked a thousand times already.  During exercise if I experience palpatations is it safe to conitnue on or should I stop? I have been experiencing palpatations for several years (Sorry I don't know if they are PACs or PVCs).  I had a cardiac work-up several years ago and was told my heart is sound.  I didn't see the report but the doctor said the event monitor showed runs of extra and missed beats and also occasional sinus tachycardia but everything was benign and nothing to worry about.  I rarely get palpatations when I exercise but when I do they seem harder than normal and I get nervous.  Thanks for any advice.

I graduated from high school in Topeka 1961. My dad was Air Force.
Well, you can't stop laughing or crying, and, as for sex, I've exprienced
some PVC's during foreplay, and I always thought to myself "Damn the PVC's,
full speed ahead" and it was ALWAYS worth it.

Are you serious about laughter causing your PVC's? I feel them when I'm laughing and sometimes even when I'm crying? Wow...I thought I was the "only one"...
Question? What about during sex? I do...and sometimes wonder if it's worth it....hmmmm

Thanks for letting me in on your personal experience with exercise and palpitations.  Mine do seem to be a bit louder and more obnoxious when I get them during exercise as opposed to how they feel under different circumstances which does make them a little scary.  I will take your suggestion and try the magnesium.  I've been eating so much healthier now than I did when I first became acquainted with the palps and I have them less frequently but I have more triggers.  Before it was stress, caffeine and sleep deprivation that caused them, now it's exercise and laughter of all things.  Thank you again.

This happens to me sometimes while running.  It can be quite scary.  What helps me is to cool it for a bit and walk instead.  If the palpations don't go away quickly after walking I would suggest a stress test.  This is preformed on a treadmill while you are hooked up to monitors that measure your heart rate.

Be sure to get your ium's.... magnesium, potassium, and calcium.  These minerals work together to aid in proper muscle contraction.  And as you know, your heart is a muscle too.

Sometimes when I get a bout of palpations I take a little extra magnesium, and drink some chamomile tea.

Thanks Eric, you are right.  I am always afraid to be a pest with my doctor and I do trust him but when I see him next I will ask him to be very specific with what my report showed and also ask him about the exercising.  Thanks again.

I would bet it is fine for you to continue exercising since the doctor said your symptoms were benign, but nobody here is going to be able to tell you for certain that it is or is not OK.  I would really recommend talking to your doctor even though I don't think you have anything to worry about.  Getting answers from your doctor should help put your anxieties at ease.
