I am a 35 year old female who has been having tremendous issues with my heart recently. The doctors seem to chalk it all up to anxiety and push me out the door. I have been on Tenoretic 50 for at least 5 years now and my cardiologist told me to cut it in half because of my heart rate sometimes going into the 40s. My blood pressure increased as a result, so he added Norvasc 2.5mg which I am reluctant to take because of reading that in combination with a beta blocker it can cause heart failure. I also have slight LVH. Today I received the following report after wearing a 30 day event monitor:
"Underyling sinus rhythm and sinus arrhythmia throughout, with symptomatic episodes associated with sinus bradycardia, PVCs, and sinus tachycardia. No high grade atrial or ventricular tachyarrhythmia and no heart block noted. Heart rate ranges were normal for age."
I should add that I have had PVCs for about 7 years now. I have had a CT scan of the heart, holter monitor (48 hours), event monitor (30 days), and a heart catherization. The only findings from those were that I have slight LVH. No exact numbers as to size were given to me. My blood pressure is ranging from 107/77 up to 167/100. My blood pressure increases significantly upon slight movement. For example, If i have been watching tv for an hour and it is time to take my bp, I have to go over to the dining table to take it. That little bit of movement after resting will cause my bp to be over 140/90. But, after sitting for a minute or so completely still it will drop a little under 140/90 or sometimes alot under. Which is the accurate reading? I worry about taking the Norvasc also since I have read it can cause increased heart rate. If I have sinus tachycardia and my doctor has decreased my beta blocker..should I be concerned with the Norvasc causing a dangerous arrhythmia? My heart rate now ranges from about 50bpm up to 90 resting. In addition, I have huge pauses in my heart beat when I breath fully in and start to breath out and vice versa. It makes me feel dizzy when it happens and wakes me up at night. My doctor doesn't seem concerned. But, it is driving me crazy as I am sure you can see from this message. I am experiecing extreme anxiety right now. I just want my life back to the way it was 4 months ago before all of this started becoming so symptomatic and noticeable. Sorry for complaining guys. Anyway...if you have any comments or suggestions please reply. Thanks.
