Hi liz, this is kay. My symptoms are lightheaded and tired or weak. my heartrate when i am sleeping get's as low as 49, it never gets over 60 now matter what i'am doing. But, i have other health issues which may make it worse. I have two types of tremors. Chronic acid reflux, thyroid problems and high blood pressure. Love hearing from you. hope you are well. hansonkay
Thanx for an answer. The low pulse rate sometimes makes me feel lighheaded and weak. The pvc's make me tired and weak too if i have a lot of them that day. I have pvc's every day, day and night. I am sorta getting used to them. It's just I was hoping for at least to be put on some medication to help a little. I was given a prescription for Sectrol by a cardio. at Mayo Clinic as I go every three months for botox injection's in my neck for tremor's.I also saw a cardio. while i was there anyway. He did a holter too, my lowest bpms were 49, highest was 110. I was told not to take the sectral till I got home and saw my regular doc for i could be monitored. I did not fill the prescription as my apt. with my doc was the next morning. He looked at it, threw it away and told me not to take it. I should have asked him why? I did'nt think to ask. love hearing from you. How are you doing ? ok i hope. down and out hansonkay
Hi, sorry your appt didn't go well. Do you have any symptoms of a low heart rate? What did your 24 hr holter record your heartrate at?
My pulse is usually in the 40's when I am in bigeminy and in the 50's when I am in trigeminy. My cardio said on the holter the lowest it recorded my heartrate was 55 while I was asleep. He said I really don't have a heartrate that low - they just can't feel the pvc in my pulse.
My last 24 hr holter showed over 22,000 pvc's, so my pulse is usually crazy and really freaks out everyone but my cardio!
Sorry to hear that you are having such a difficult time with pvcs and your heart.
Is it the pvcs that are bothering you the most, or is it a slow heart rate? Are you having any fainting or dizzy spells as a result of the slow heart rate?
A pacemaker will not help in anyway to decrease pvcs, I think it was suggested to you because of your heart rate. 52 is on the low side, but it's not life threatening. I think your doctor prescribed the holter monitors to see what your heart rate is actually doing throughout the day. If your heart rate is causing you symptoms like fainting spells, a pacemaker would help to make sure the heart doesn't fall to low.
I have a "lower" heart rate, but it's still in the range of 65 to 80bpm. But when I take beta-blockers this went down into the 50's and more importantly, my blood pressure dropped to 100s "ish" over 60. I was too fatigued and dizzy to continue those. BUT with multiple thousands of pvcs, I just had to have some relief, so a BB called sectral, also known as acebutolol was prescribed. The EP said it didn't lower heart rate the same as newer beta-blockers, and so far I'd say he's right on the money, and it's the first of three others I've tried that has had any effect on the pvcs. I'm at half the frequency some days, and 10,000 is much better than 20,000 believe me.
