you should call your mom's dr and tell them asap to see what they say - vomiting could be a sign of anything and fatigue could be from a setting on the PM or maybe something else entirely...either way have her call or you call =)
My mom had a pacemaker op on tegus day, she was discharged from hospital this morning, but since then she has been vomiting and is very tired. Is this normal?
My brother has passed out four times since getting his pacemaker in April of 09. He has had several return post op visits with his Cardiologist
Is this a normal side effect?
During this period of extreme tiredness, has she been to the doctor? Have you CHECKED her rate during this? If it is not going at the pacer set rate, there could be a lead problem or a sensing problem. It can take a couple of tune-up visits early on to get the settings to match her individually. I had mine checked first at 1 week, then at 1 month... then to every 3 months. Now, at 6. Plus I have a monitor that went home with me to remotely check on the pacer. It can just call in a check over the phone and the md office can call me back to be sure it is sensing and pacing per plan. Definitely, bump up the appt and e seen soooner than later as it may be a very easy answer that she is needlessly suffering through righy now. Otherwise though, there are other reasons that are possible but it's always best to start with the easiest first. I have to take a LOT of medicines to go with the pacer as a part of the total cardiac care package. The meds drop my pressure SO badly that I am often way underpowered too. That one can't be helped. There is always a possibility of a med adjustment necessary as well. Hope you get it answered quick and easy. The pacemaker was the highlight of '08 for me. I hope you will find that it helps significantly too.
Has your mom had the 2 mo check up yet? If not, I would suggest that you schedule it soon. I am 60 and have had a pacer for 2 years and have not had difficulties with the pacer. However, on March 5, I had the AV node ablated due to difficulties with AFib. Because of that procedure, I am now paced at 100%. A couple of weeks ago I developed a problem with the timing pf the pacer and went in for a "tune up" and that solved the problem.
A quick tuneup is well worth the effort to eradicate your mom's problem.

The people I know who have a pacemaker do not complain of any side effects. I think it may just be that recovery/adjustment takes time. You said she was scheduled for a two months follow up, has that taken place, or yet to come?
Discuss this with her doctor, is the best approach.
There are many in this Community who have a pacemaker, perhaps you'll get some input from one or more of them.
