thank you i wonder could it be cardiac in nature
Anxiety causes chemicals called catecholamines to be released at various points throughout your body. Catecholamines are chemical messengers that tell body organs what to do- and they particularly play a role in the fight or flight response which is mistakenly triggered during anxiety attacks.
Chronically elevated catecholamines can cause gastrointestinal symptoms, headaches, and chest discomfort and/or palpitations. These symptoms are very real because although they originated in thoughts, they were brought about through a chemical process in the body. However, they are treated differently than the same physical symptoms might be treated when brought on by disease, because the root cause is different. That is, if you address the anxiety and treat it properly, the symptoms should stop. A therapist/psychologist/psychiatrist can tell you how long treatment should take, and refer you to an appropriate physician if your symptoms do not resolve with anxiety treatment after a reasonable length of time.
