sorry to say but it sounds like garden variety, age-related arthritis. I have the same thing. Flexibility exercises help me. See your general practitioner or a rheumatologist for more info.
Not sure what you are referring to, but I'll guess based on my experience. My experience is for me at about 70 my cartilage in my neck/spin began to "grind " when I turned my head, especially when sitting watching TV or reading... that is when I was very stationary. About this time I also discovered it was hard for be to back a car/trailer because I simply couldn't turn my hear around far enough to see what was going on behind the vehicle.
This grinding in my case has nothing to due with heart rhythm, of which I also suffer, this being atrial fibrillation which raised itself to my consciousness at about the age of 58. The age here is coincidental, and has noting specifically linked to your age and symptom concern.
In any case, my guess is your cartilage is becoming stiff and "creaking" or "grinding" when the bones rotate on either side of it. My understanding is "tough luck" but this goes along with age and thus I just live with it as long as it will allow.
