After treatment does side effects from baraclude or tenofovir go away? For those that had to stop treatment for an extended amount of time or were cured?

b4bb - I wanted to respond to you, regarding being reluctant to start treatment. Don't be! I was too when I started and I am so glad I did it! People respond differently to different things. Generally speaking, the medication is safe. Just monitor everything you can to be sure. Most importantly your Vitamin D levels, bone density markers and kidney functions (on top of the normal Hep B panel)

Yup, I was there with that one before treat. This is odd. Your body is definitely responding different to the treatment.

Anyway, I decided to look in my Amazon "wishlist" to give you 2 links:

Magnesium Gecaps I take:

You can probably find both cheaper in a drugstore like CVS or Walgreens.

The twitching has went down alot but if I try to do anything physical it starts to come back. Yes I think the sundown is chelated. Which brand do you use for b12? Before treatment my levels were 1469 pg/ml. I think the range is 211-946. I wonder how long does it take to come deficient.

This sounds terrible. Sorry you are having such bad side effects with TDF. I had no side effects for the 4 years I took TDF solo therapy. I only started getting those types of bad side effects starting in July when I added 180mcg once per week of peg Interferon.

Hope things improve!

Wow 1500mg a day and you're still getting the twitching? I just looked at your supplements again. Sundown is usually pretty good, but is that the Chealated kind? (Hope I spelled that right). For some reason, those don't seem to work as well on me. A

re you able to switch to a brand that has gelcaps instead? They seem to work better, but some people have a harder time swallowing those because of the pure size of them.

Definitely try upping the B12. I've learned, from what I read, that we may also be B12 deficient. That is a new one to me but explains a lot!

I take about 1500mg of magnesium a day. You're right about the b12. I thought I was taking too much but I'm actually not taking nearly enough. My multivitamin Animal pak only has 25 mcg per pak and I take 3 stress b complex which is only 36 mcg.

I knew I left something out! After looking at your profile, Jason (sorry I didn't PM you, figured the info in here was enough), I realized I too am taking Magnesium 250mg, 1 tablet a day - along with the other vitamins. I just don't have them right now and I'm reminded I need to get them! This actually helps with the twitching.. it can't hurt to take twice a day.

I'd like to also add that I am drinking water, daily, with fresh cut lemons in it. Believe it or not, I think this helps a lot.

Jason and anyone interested, here are 2 pics of everything I take (Let me know if you can't see it)

Chewable C, 500mg - Usually 4 tablets of this. 2 In morning, 2 at night

Calcium, 500mg - 1 tablet in morning

Zinc, 50mg - 1 tablet in morning

Vitamin D3, 10,000iu - 1 tablet in morning and sometimes I'll take another one at night for 20,000iu

B-12, 5000 mcg - I've been experimenting with 4 dissolveables a day right now but I suggest only 2

Fish Oil - Omega 3 - 2 gummies, twice a day as per reccommendation

Selenium - 200mg, 1 a day in the evening

Vegan K2 w/ MK7 - Usually 4 dissolvables in morning with D3

High Potency B Complex - 2 tablets at night

Garlic - 2000 mg, 1 tablet at night

Cinnamon - 1000mg, 1 tablet at night

I also mix natural honey with green tea at night.I also try to flavor everything with ginger. If I can't flavor with ginger, I'll drink an amazing organic ginger tea at night with honey. I currently don't try the black seed that may have helped one person.

I'd like to add more vitamins to this mix (E, B1, B6) but my budget is super tight right now!

I hope this helps all and any!

I'll PM you a picture of all the vitamins I take on a daily basis later on tonight. Stress B Complex helps a lot, but you probably need more than what you are taking. I'll detail out anything and everything I take here too.... with leaving myself open to comments. Funny enough, I too am on this for 17 months now! We're on the same schedule :P

I admit when I started taking a supplement called stress b complex it did help alot. In my pictures profile is some of the vitamins I'm still taking. After 17 months on treatment I wish I could just stop it altogether but I want a cure. I can't see myself taking these drugs for life.

Well I thought this treatment was going to be a piece of cake before I started. I do remember the doctor asking me over and over do I think I want to start treatment. But my levels was high and I want this illness gone, so I decided to go with it. Make sure you take all the right vitamins to cut back on side effects. That was my big mistake but it seemed like any vitamin I took made my symptoms worst.

oh wow, reading the side effects you listed I'm even more opposed to start treatment now (the doc wants me to tho)...especially the fatigue, I doubt I could handle it :(
How long have you been on it?

Also, the absolutely worst was the itching, twitching and muscle loss. Imagine the itching and twitching in your ears?! I got that. I still haven't full recovered from that one. My ears "ring" all the time now. Trying to find that solution now (I suspect a B vitamin deficiency is the culprit)

Jason, I'll comment more on a good regiment for you when I get home as per a nutritionist friend of mine. Almost every single one of these symptoms, except for hair loss, I experienced during my immune escape phase and they got better with treatment and vitamins. Sit tight (and please be open minded with others who may offer suggestions here too, they have been a blessing in helping me along the way!)

Many of these symptoms got better when taking large doses of vitamins though. I went nearly a year only taking vitamin d since any other supplements I took made my sick. I think the baraclude made me deficient. The tenofovir gives me some of the same symptoms as baraclude but it's much stronger imo. I also have ibs which I took bentyl and still take metamucil for.

Headache, changes in vision, joint and muscle pain=high cpk, loss of muscle mass, erectile dysfunction, twitching, hair loss, itching, extremely fatigue. I had none of these problems before starting treatment.

Jason, I've only been on this board for a bit but from what I read, lots of people who had sides from the meds, no longer had them and their body returned to normal after they stopped treatment.

Can I ask, in more detail, what sides you are experiencing (all of them if you can)? I just want to see how similar our case is with sides, as I've learned to combat a few of them and may be able to offer some advice.
