Only for HIV in a combined antiretroviral, but NOT for mono treatment of HBV as of yet.

Question.. how did your HIV not come about on the first test and then was positive on the second? Then you contract it in between tests?

So, you have been diagnosed with HIV plus HBV?  Did you do the proper testing to find out if your HBV is acute or chronic?

If acute, no treatment is needed and hopefully your body will resolve HBV on your own.

If chronic and depending on where you live antiretroviral treatment should be explored.  I know in the US, they now advise anyone with HIV to start treatment, regardless of their HIV viral load.  The cocktail they give for HIV takes care of keeping the HBV in check.  The active drug for HBV is Viread and I think the FDA recently approved the new HIV cocktail with TAF, which is still Viread but a lower dosage that has less toxicity.  With HBV, you still need to monitor your liver by ultrasound or better yet Fibroscan about every 6 months.  There is at this point no cure for either, but with medication HIV shouldn't shorten your life and with monitoring HBV you should catch anything early.  See an infections disease specialist and possibly a hepatoltologist also ASAP to assess your status for both, as we are not doctors here.  Best wishes.

They approved TAF?! This is news to me... especially since I'm still on the trial for it. Hmm
