Entecavir should have expired in May.

Entecavir (Baraclude) patent should have already expired in May 2010. It costs me HK$3,000 (US$400) a month in last 2 years. I expect the price to drop sharply after the patent expiry. But, it did not. Anyone has any idea ?

there is a generic made in india, search in the community for the name

another option is to use tenofovir which is more potent than etv but cheaper, there is also a generic version called tenvir by cipla which is even cheaper

a member of the community said she pays very cheap brand entecavir in the philippins, i think all asian poor countries have lower prices for branded drugs

i suggest to inquire canadian pharmacies for entecavir generic, they ship from india (at least the one i use for ntz) so they should have the generic available if indian production has started

I think the question at this is:  how soon can offshore pharmacies (perhaps those based in India) make the generic entecavir (Baraclude) available to consumers?  This would be a saving grace for those seeking a combination therapy with Baraclude and Viread.

it is a wrong name for drugs just to make more money for the first drug maker who did the drug

generic is the same drug made from another drug maker, this is why the name generic is very wrong, generic sounds like the drug is different but only drug maker is different.of course the oter drug makers make the drug at a lower price
