Thanks for your clarification Stephan. Will update you on her antibodies after I check next month.
If HBcAb is negative, then it would mean she was not infected previously, so HBV vaccination should work for people like her and she should develop protective HBsAb level > 10 IU/L.
Hi Stephan,
Thanks for your information. I am HBV inactive carrier. When I tested HBsAg to my wife her value was 0.01 iu/ml and HBsAb is 0. We didnt test for HBcAb. She started taking g vaccination now(accelerated one). Will be checking for HBsAb next month. So I was wondering if she is already infected as HBsAb is non-zero.
Although she has HBcAb negative she can develop antibodies I.e HBsAb?
Your report would have stated that you are HBsAg negative.
Whether you need to receive vaccination depends on:
1. Do you already have HBsAb?
2. Is your HBcAb positive? If yes, this means there was a previous HBV infection and patient recovered and not yet developed HBsAb. Vaccination may or may not induce production of HBsAb.
Just my opinion.
sorry..forgot to mention the unit it's 0.01 iu/ml..
