hbv is not a single virus, every virion changes while replicating and among these changes the most fit become a good percentage of the population
of these mutations we only care about those resistant to antivirals (only tenofovir looks working on all) and the mutations in hbsag, old obsolete tests do not detect hbsag muatants and the test comes negative while it is not.since these tests are not quantitative they are not used anymore in countries with good heathcare systems
Thanks for the reply, I was given test by ECLIA Cobas e600, can you explain, whether I need further testing to rule out HepB? As I have already given HBsAg. Thanks.
If any one else can put light on this.
Thanks.
you are in the same case with me i would like to talk you more about this mutant virus because me too i m afraid
Hi, If you are afraid about mutant thing, just go for other tests like HBsAb and HBcAb. As I was vaccinated as a child I gave HBsAb test yesterday, today I got my result and my result was reactive with 217.5 mlU/ml. So mutant does not matter here as I am already vaccinated against Hep B.
