I am sorry for posting in two different threads. Any information in regards to my question above would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Hi everyone,
I have been getting pain in this area. I am not sure if its the same pain or sensations that are being described here.
For some reason my doctor thinks that it could be a sign that the liver is inflamed and that I may need to start meds.
Can anyone else share their experience or thoughts on this pain?
Many thanks!
Hi Steve ,
Can you illustrate on this point ?
"While it is possible to have fibrosis or cirrhosis with "normal range" LFTs, it's very unlikely since you are 34. "
When is it likely i mean at what age ?/
I agree with zelly. I think most newly diagnosed being more "liver aware" have a tendency to poke his / her liver area. Such poking could make that area tender / sore. So it's quite common for CHB to report "liver pain".
I also think you will have other symptoms if your liver is acutally swollen due to HepB.
"What are symptoms of liver pain?" This is a total guess but how about: pain or tender / painful sensation at liver area :)
While it is possible to have fibrosis or cirrhosis with "normal range" LFTs, it's very unlikely since you are 34.
As for question 5: There's nothing to do but wait for your appointment. Grab a fruit drink and enjoy it watching your favorite tv show. Just relax. Good luck.
It seems that nearly ALL CHB patients have this sensation. It does not appear to be connected to any change in labs. So what is it? Who knows. The liver has no nerve endings so its not liver pain per se. The capsule that surrounds the liver could feel pain if the liver was swollen. A lot of digestive sensation is felt on the right side. So, are CHB's just more "liver aware" than the general population? Maybe. The fact that you never felt this until your dx is very suggestive of that.
