Please Help = HBSAG = reactive and HBEAG = non reactive

Hi everyone.

my husband is hepa b positive. we found out last jan 2015 and its chronic stage. He had all the tests, HBSAG = reactive, HBEAG = non-reactive and HBV DNA = detectable (forgot the quantity).

He started treatment with interferon shots for 3 months, and after 3 months, HBV DNA = undetectable , SGPT = good as normal, HBSAG still reactive and HBEAG = still non reactive. So his doctor advised for another 3 months shots of interferon. and unfortunately after 3 months again still reactive and SGPT is elevated again. Doctor's advise for another 6 months of interferon or anti-viral med (oral) for 1 year.

We thought of another options since interferon is very expensive. We went to another doctor for 2nd opinion (i think his an alternative doctor). He prescribed Selenium and he mentioned STEM CELL CAPSULE. He had patients who took stem cell capsule and HBSAG was eradicated. He advised my husband not to take anti-viral med or interferon since his HBEAG is non-reactive..

I need you opinion guys.. Please help.. Have you heard about STEM CELL CAPSULE?? Where can i buy those capsules?? do u think his advise is reasonable for him not to take any anti-viral drugs.

Thank you and God bless us all. God is good.. I am lucky because i was not infected, i had tests twice and did the vaccination after..

Use your common sense - stem cells in a capsule? What kind of stem cells? You may grow an extra foot in your month.

Meanwhile don't stop interferon for Atleast 6months and check ur hbsag quantification in iu/ml. Remember to ask ur lab to give u results in iu/ml only.

Anyway I too have never heard of stem cell CAPSULES rather heard about stem cell transplantation but due to raised curiosity u should ask ur doctor to prescribe u that capsule(if it ever exists)and get a few and see the details/composition and share it at this place so that people cud assess what exactly it is. May be something useful or may be a crap. If that doctor claims to cure people by it so first know a lil bit about it. Ask him about the duration of treatment, total cost etc.
Guys don't get angry on me but it will be better if we come to know something new, world is too big to deny possibilities. First know details then decide

We are missing some important information regarding your husband's condition, before we can give you more informed opinions.

We have never heard of STEM CELL Capsule, certainly NOT as cure for Hepatitis B. A "doctor" who advised patients to take STEM CELL Capsule and not approved antiviral drugs for HBV is not a doctor and should be put in jail.

Your husband is HBeAg negative, so we need to know his viral load (hbvdna) and ALT, in order to determine whether he needs treatment or not. Not all patients need treatment immediately, some can wait and be monitored.

If he does need treatment and Interferon is used, then it is important to know his serum HBsAg quantity too. Interferon is usually given for 48 weeks. Antivirals are usually given for longer than a year.

So we have a lot of suspicions regarding the knowledge of your first doctor in treating HBV patients. You need to provide more information in order for us to give you more informed comments.

3 months after interferon = HBSAG = 1.585
another 3 months of interferon = HBSAG = 2.986
Hbeag = non-reactive
HBV DNA = undetectable 3 months ago / but he had the test again yesterday and result will be tomorrow.

You should make HBsAg quantitive test every 3 months on interferon, not just reactive/non reactive.
