vitiligo after treatment

i am 17 months post triple therapy with peg, riba, sovaaldi.
during treatment i felt like my liver was getting worse stomach pain and then came the joint aches, fatigue, brain fog, etc. i was svr at 3,6,and 13months. 1 month post treat i developed terrible itch, joint ache, and fatigue were still with me and then came the vitiligo, my skin darkened and white puzzle like spots started  fading in. my labs showed my liver enzymes were still elevated up to 12 months post. my MD had no answers
The GI Dr told me that the meds in no way had anything to do with my post treat condition. I met up with a GI Dr out of Nebraska whom i met in KC and was told by him that the interferon from my treatment causes my condition, he ran some blood markers for auto immune, 2 weeks later he placed me on azathioprine and prednisone and was informed by him that it would be several months before the meds took effect. 3 weeks in i started to feel better and my enzymes were dropping. at 2 months my joint pain is 90% gone and no stomach pain. my skin is starting to lighten up, the itch is gone and my local MD's are now acting like they new that all along.

Very interesting. I have developed vitiligo too, on my right lower calf inside, after what I swear was a flare of vasculitis in my lower legs last year.

Thought I was going to die.  Called family.  Made preparatiosn for my dogs, etc.  Couldn't walk.  Doctors were very worried.  Could not really diagnose problem.  I finally just laid in bed 5 daus and ate very very well and the thing cleared.

Then the vitiligo came on and continues to slowly spread.

A magnificent specimen of a man cut low.  It's hilarious, really, how supremely whacked out and insidiously misguided our medical system is.  They might as well be putting leeches on us and bleeding.  Another symptom of corporatism.

The whole thing aged me 20 years almost overnight.

Thanks for the response, the diagnosis was auto immune and thats the reason for azathio/Pred . the hcv was undetected at 13 mos. and my enzymes were still elevated hopefully my system will get to normal and he said it would be temporary, i'm hoping and praying it does.
Thanks, johnjonz101

Welcome to the forum.  Taking this drugs is putting a bandaid on what is causing the problem.   There are effect to taking them long term and I would seek a 2 or 3 opinion.  There are many people on this forum that have had negative effects from interferon.  I don't know if anyone is taking this drugs.

But I personally avoid taking prednisone.  Its a feel good drug for when doctors can't get to the bottom of your health issue.  Its intended for short term use.  Long term isn't recommended due to the serious averse effects.
