Teleprevir at AALD

Coincidentally, I was at NIH yesterday to see a heptologist.

He had just returned from the AALD convention and his opinion was that Teleprevir would be approved next summer and would be available and covered by insurance by the end of the next year. He is doing a trial on high dose riba which I declined as I figured I would wait.

Thanks nygirl!! I am double glad I didnt do this after reading your post.

I did SOC 6 years ago with very few sides so I did consider the high dose riba but in the end I figured my best chance was Teleprevir, Vit D, predose riba (with fat)and doing the first several doses of peg at every 5 days.

God I am glad you did not do the high dose riba - I did it and let me tell you.......the anemia from almost double dosing was killer, like literally. I couldn't pick my head up off the pillow barely and had to be on massive amounts of Procrit for 69 weeks of treatment.

You were right to wait, let me tell you it was horrible.
